About
Hi there! My name is Eleanor Patrick and I’m a freelance writer/editor, and also a child therapist and parent.
This blog is a collection of bedtime stories for reading to younger children. You’ll know if they’re suitable for your children, but a rough guide would be children of about 4 to 5.
I’m adding a good old-fashioned “moral” at the bottom of each story. Do feel free to ignore that and talk about anything you like. But children are often intrigued by a moral. And, eventually, by clicking on a category at the right, you may be able to choose a story with a particular message you want to reinforce!
All the stories involve common toys that children may well have, and all end up in “sleepy” mode. If one picture doesn’t seem enough, you and your child could draw another bit of the story some other time. Or you could play out the story together with some similar toys.
Anyway, there will be a new story every week – in time for the weekend. So that’s 52 stories to fill 2010. Enjoy! I’m putting two up to start with, so there will always be one in hand. Later, you’ll be able to choose ones at random for a repeat. Kids love repeat readings – and if you get them to tell you the story in their own words, the message is reinforced without anyone saying it in so many words. It just goes in!
Thanks for visiting. If you like the site, please do pass the message on to your friends with children.
